Day Thirty One:

Day Thirty One:

An entire month. Oh how time flies when you're having fun, or being hunted.

I sort of feel like a bit of a jerk. An entire month has passed and it seems like I should be doing more you know? Like, keeping better notes or, drawing pictures of everything, or I don't know. I honestly don't know why on earth I would want to draw pictures but, it seems like the educational thing to do.

I spent today trying to figure out different ways to annoy the creatures that are outside patiently waiting to tear me apart. See what I mean? That isn't productive. Blasting Journey at maximum volume just to see if maybe Steve Perry is the cure for mankind is NOT a worthwhile endeavor.

I should be formulating hypothesis's and developing solutions to this problem. At the very least I should be figuring out a way to rescue AJ. But it is scary out there, and it is nice and cozy in here. So instead of telling you about how I am making progress in my high tech laboratory that I should have built in my basement at this point... I will instead tell you that ex-humes don't like being poked with a spoon attached to the end of a broom handle.

Yeah, I'm a genius.

Day Thirty:

Day Thirty:

You know what the problem is with old gaming systems like the Super Nintendo?

They're fucking old.

You don't really realize how far we have advanced as a society (or what once was a society) until you load up some 10-15 year old technology. Then and only then do you realize what horribly ugly crap we used to have to put up with.

Oh yeah, all of the ex-humes are still outside my house waiting for their chance to rip me apart. But why focus on that when I can delve into the horrible polygons of a Super Nintendo game right?

On a positive note, I made grilled cheese sandwiches for myself today. I don't remember the last time I made them and a part of me believes that if only we could make enough grilled cheese sandwiches, then and only then would we be able to convince all the ex-humes to go back to being human since surely any creature that was formerly a human would want to turn back into one if grilled cheese sandwiches were on the line.

Yep, that’s right kids. This is what the history books have to look forward to. Anne Frank had her diary, and I've got inane blathering nonsense that will fill the pages of what once was in Tomorrow-morrow land.

Day Twenty Nine:

Day Twenty Nine:

Remember yesterday when I had that brilliant idea to kill a bunch more ex-humes today so that any of them that happened to be lurking in dark corners waiting to rip my face off would be too busy eating their dead friends to notice me plan? Well, it was a great plan on paper, however what would happen if Walmart decided to just give away everything in its store for free?

You would have half the population of the world clamoring to get inside a Walmart.

The same is true when you lay out 7500 pounds of dead meat on your front lawn. Suddenly you go from having a minor ex-hume problem to being the number one food source in America for these things. Right now, there are literally at least 300 of them walking around. The problem is, there are three hundred that I can see. This means that like cockroaches, there are probably another two to five hundred that are hidden somewhere else.

I told Aj about this and he said not to worry. He had enough food to last him quite a bit longer and he has begun rationing it just in case. Additionally, he believes that once they realize that it was a one time offer, the majority of the horde will move on.

Sounds plausible except, he is also the idiot that wouldn't move in over here, didn't board his house up properly, and kept the majority of his food supply in the one area he didn't secure properly. So right now, taking advice from him is like taking advice on morality from a schizophrenic psychopath.

Not your best bet.

In unrelated news, I was digging around my closet looking for anything to stave off the boredom and you know what I found? An old Super Nintendo. Pilot Wings here I come!

Although given the circumstances, I guess playing Zombies ate my Neighbors would make more sense.

Day Twenty Eight:

Day Twenty Eight:

Smart creatures the ex-humes ain't. In an attempt to possibly get out of my house and get to Aj I figured maybe I could kill all the beasts surrounding my house. Considering that I have enough ammunition to fuel a small country, the firepower isn't exactly a problem.

Basically what happens is this. You target one, shoot it, and two other ones jump on it. So you shoot both of them and three more come out to pounce on them. Problem is, after about 75 of them you have a stack of like, 7,500 pounds of meat lying dead in the street at which point, it gets really hard to shoot anything since the radius is so wide and the bodies begin to pile up and block what you want to shoot.

On the plus side, ALL of the creatures are so busy with the feeding frenzy of their dead friends that it would be very easy to sneak out the back door. Hell, I wouldn't have to sneak. I am pretty sure I could walk out the front door with a siren on my head and walk within ten feet of the fuckers without them paying any attention to me since, why bother?

Food is food and if you've got a fresh pizza in front of you are you really going to tackle the waiter carrying the spaghetti? Nope.

I called Aj up and told him that tomorrow if we both started shooting these things at about the same time I would more than likely be able to pick him up without a hitch and get him back here before the things finished their meal. So that’s the plan, and I think its a pretty good one.

Now my only problem is figuring out how to lug another mattress upstairs so Aj will have somewhere to sleep when he gets here. Probably should have moved into a bigger house before all of this turned sour but, you live you learn. Or, you live and turn into a savage beast that walks around on all fours eating your dead friends. Either way I suppose.

Day Twenty Seven Pt. 2:

Day Twenty Seven Pt. 2:

Aj just called me on the radio and told me he thinks they might have gotten into his basement.

FUCK.

This wouldn't matter nearly as much except, unlike me, Aj didn't have the foresight to move all of his food upstairs before he chainsawed the stairs. So now, he has about enough food to last him a week.

DOUBLE FUCK.

I told him to make sure every window was boarded up solid. To test each one by kicking it from the outside as hard as he could ten times. Did he listen? No. He just said something clever about how I was over reacting and laughed.

Well Aj, shits really funny now isn't you ass?

Day Twenty Seven:

Day Twenty Seven:

Guess what I found today?

If you guessed another survivor... you would be 100% wrong. Because in case you haven't been paying attention, there is only one other person I know of. Wouldn't it be weird if Aj and I were the last two non-infected people on the planet and for some unknown reason we were both living in the same city?

Yeah, that would be weird. But it wouldn't answer the question of what I found to day.

The correct answer for what I found would be an old workout dvd that I had been meaning to start doing but, never did because even though being in perfect shape would be great, watching tv is even greater.

So anyway, now that everyday is a mix of staggering amounts of boredom mixed with the occasional freak out moment where I want to scream "HELP US" at the top of my lungs well, now I have all the time in the world to workout. So I started today and maybe after a little bit of time has passed I will have enough endurance to outrun these things if I ever need to.

Called Aj on the radio today, asked him if he thought that now that we are both pretty much pinned in our houses by hordes of ex-humes, if now might be a good time to pool our resources and move in together. You know what he said?

He said "You ever wonder what blind people think humans are? I mean, they can touch a face and do there best to understand but someone who is blind, and I mean blind from birth not just from an accident might think humans are what we would classify as aliens."

Yeah, thanks Aj. I'm good at changing the subject to get out of a conversation but, he is absolutely birlliant at it. Because how do you reply to that? The only thing you can say is Ehhhhh huh?

Day Twenty Six:

Day Twenty Six:

I chainsawed my stairs today.

Well, I guess I am getting a little ahead of myself. First I made sure I had absolutely everything I needed upstairs and THEN I chainsawed the stairs. Would have been sort of hard to get my couch upstairs if there weren't any stairs you know?

Anyway, I figure this way I will be able to sleep soundly at night since it has been rough the last couple nights. I check my fortifications routinely but, I guess I have Hollywood stuck in my head since I keep expecting hands and legs to start breaking through the walls like they did in Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Now in order to get up or down I have to climb a retractable ladder but, I figure this combined with ear plugs will help me sleep like a baby. Then again, babies are always waking up and crying in the middle of the night so I suppose that is sort of a stupid thing to say.

The earplugs are important though since every now and then for no discernible reason those things start laughing. But it isn't like a "Hahaha, oh we are having fun" laugh but more like some type of fucked up cross between the Predator's mock human distorted laugh and a woman doing her controlled breathing during labor.

Make sense?

Yeah well, it is sort of hard to describe. Problem is, once one of them starts the other bastards join in and the result is a chorus of ear horror. Would have been nice if the virus that decimated humanity would have rendered its infected mute. But I suppose that is asking too much. Thanks God, great work once again. You really stuck it to us with that one!

I am worried about Aj. I don't think he ever really considered the fact that these things might eventually start to focus on us and as a result... I don't think his house is as prepared. Here’s to hoping that at the end of the week I'm not the last survivor I know of.

Day Twenty Five:

Day Twenty Five:

I didn't leave my house today. I called Aj on the walkie talkie and apparently, neither did he.

The ex-humes have posted up outside both of our houses. I would like to believe that they are angry for the other ones that I killed, because at least that would mean they are thinking. However, logically I know it is because they are running out of food and, know where they can get a tasty meal.

If I make noise they scatter or at least, the obvious one scatters but I can always see slight movement just out of my peripheral vision. They might not be smart enough to get revenge but they're definitely smart enough to set a trap.

So instead of meeting with Aj I spent a little bit of time going on my roof and shooting the bastards. Oh what a difference a month makes right? Just 25 short days ago I would have never even dreamed of shooting another human being and now here I am, shooting them like they're some sort of pesky rodent.

As long as I don't start cutting them up and hanging their pieces from poles like that one guy from the other week I think my sanity will be ok. Oh, and after shooting a couple I am pretty sure the rest left since they now had their dead ex-hume friends to thank for a hearty meal.

You know what the difference between me and those idiots in the movie Dawn of the Dead is?

If Aj gets attacked I'm not going to die trying to rescue him. It will be a very sad day, and I will try to comfort him over the radio but, he made his choice not to work as a team.

God, what am I saying?

Day Twenty Four:

Day Twenty Four:

AJ had a really good idea the other day that I thought I would share with, an audience that doesn't exist. Hahaha, oh diary humor you slay me.

Anyway, his idea was to attach a camera to a remote control car so that we could maybe follow a herd or pack or flock or gaggle or whatever you call a bunch of bloodthirsty primal humans traveling together. We tried it out but unfortunately every time we would get near anything worth watching the noise from the car would scare them off like a vacuum scares dogs.

Eventually we wound up just driving the car to places where there were lots of bones and just leaving it in park. I have to admit, it was sort of fun waiting for a couple of them to get close and then scaring them off for no particular reason. I wonder if this is the new fun.

After that, we talked a little bit about his reluctance to pool our resources and set up shop together somewhere safe. I told him about the aggressive ex-hume that tried to attack me and he actually agreed that staying together at all times made the most sense.

However, he also explained that it would take him a little longer before he could get used to the idea that everything he used to know and love was gone. He couldn't explain it much better than that but, its a step in the right direction I suppose. We also found some walkie talkies that we can keep in contact with and agreed that whenever we went outside we would make sure the other person was on the other end listening just in case.

Sort of like the "I've fallen and I can't get up" commercials, except with disembowelment as a possible outcome instead of a broken hip.

Last thought of the night, lately I have been thinking about movie soundtracks a lot since this whole ordeal feels like a horror movie minus the gore or fear or... maybe a horror movie is the wrong genre. Maybe a Apocalyptic episode of Seinfeld would be better. Point is, if I had to pick a song to sum up the world as we now know it I think I would hands down have to award the prize to Metric with their only good song "Help I'm Alive"

Because really, it almost feels like they somehow knew what was coming before it happened.

"I tremble
They’re gonna eat me alive
If I stumble
They’re gonna eat me alive

Can you hear my heart beating like a hammer, beating like a hammer
Help, I’m alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer
Hard to be soft, tough to be tender
Come take my pulse, the pace is on a runaway train
Help, I’m alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer, beating like a hammer

If you’re still alive
My regrets are few.
If my life is mine,
what shouldn’t I do?
I get wherever I’m going,
I get whatever I need
while my blood’s still flowing
and my heart still beats."

See what I mean? We will never be able to prove it but, at this point I am 90% certain that the band Metric orchestrated this entire disaster. Assholes.

Day Twenty Three

Day Twenty Three:

One of them chased me today and I shot it.

The ones I didn't even know were there ripped the injured one apart almost immediately after it was shot. So I shot them too.

Now I am going to go to sleep and try to pretend that the more than likely short rest of my life will involve human dogs trying to devour me.

Day Twenty Two:

Day Twenty Two:

What I don't understand is, why are the ex-humes hunting at night? I understand other creatures, because they have evolved to have special eyes or abilities that allow them to hunt at night. But unless I am missing something, these are still just humans with broken brains.

I thought and thought about this and couldn't come up with any answers until I decided to fast forward through what I had recorded. See, I was only focusing on night since I never saw the bastards and thought they only were coming out at night.

I was very very very wrong.

Apparently, they just scatter whenever I or some other distraction gets within earshot of them. Because on more than one occasion they would all disappear and ten minutes later I would come strolling into the picture oblivious to the fact that I am much less alone than I thought.

In the daytime there are ten times the amount of them roaming the streets and searching for food or fun or whatever the hell else drives a mindless horde forward. The night made me think that they were sticking to small groups but, apparently the night versions must have been worked midnight shifts or something and as such, are less in number.

Because the day group are moving in packs of 5 to 15. So now, in addition to a spreading fire, loss of power, limited resources, loneliness, and a myriad of other problems... I will have to deal with wolf pack sized groups of ex-humes.

Awesome.

Maybe next it can start raining Aids and the air can turn into sulfuric acid.

One can only hope.

Day Twenty One:

Day Twenty One:
There’s a fire burning to the Northeast of me. Hard to tell if it is going to burn itself out or keep coming this way. With a little luck it will burn down AJ's house and leave mine in tip top shape. No, that is mean and I don't mean it.

Fuck.

Before this happened all I ever wanted most of the time was some privacy. What with people constantly yapping on their cellphones or honking their horns or carting around some crying little brat... I yearned for a little peace and quiet.

Well, I got the quiet request and it is driving me out of my mind. The sad thing is, I think the main reason I am still writing this is because it almost feels like I am talking to someone. I can hear my voice when I write this and as crazy as it sounds, that is comforting to a small extent.

Maybe I could corner an Ex-hume and sit him down for a nice glass of tea and conversation.

"So ex-hume, how are you liking your new life?"
"ARGLE BLARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG"
"Oh really, that is fascinating, tell me more!"

I have also decided AJ is up to something. I suppose I could be paranoid but, I usually have a pretty good feeling about people. Then again, I am also talking to myself so my suspicious meter might be all out of whack as well.

Makes me wonder that if I am having these thoughts, if he is starting to think that I am some whiny compulsively needy person that always has to be around someone. Funny how even with the imminent fall of humanity right around the corner, petty issues like this still consume the human psyche.

Once again, I think I am getting a little too deep.

Moving back towards concrete facts and away from touchy feely, I recorded some more video last night and got a quick glimpse of how these things are surviving. One stood in the middle of the road making a clicking noise, eventually some poor stray dog appeared, probably thinking he had found his long lost owner and then, in the blink of an eye two other ones that had been hidden until that point came out and pounced on the terrified animal. He didn't suffer long.

Is it wrong that having everyone on Earth essentially die didn’t make me cry, but this did?

In the wild this wouldn't surprise me but, I guess I'm just having a hard time coming to terms with the notion that everything is the "wild" now. Including my backyard.

I wonder if they all hunt like that, or if these three just had some remnant memory of the Velociraptors from Jurassic Park?

Day Twenty:

Day Twenty:

You know what used to always bug me? When people would ask me "If a tree falls in a forest with no one around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

And I would always stare at them and wonder if they had some type of learning disability because of course it makes a fucking sound. My ears don't control the physics of sound and impact. I don't know exactly where I am going with this except to say, maybe if the entire planet had spent a little less time worrying about the acoustics of lonely trees in empty forests and more time worrying about horrible brain destroying diseases I would be able to find a decent cup of coffee somewhere.

I'm probably just grumpy because AJ pissed me off. What is it going to take for that guy to realize that safety and strength can be found in numbers? Christ, these ex-humes have figured that out already in what, 20 some odd days? What is our excuse?

Well his excuse is that he doesn't feel comfortable with it. Ok granted, I am a bit of a slob at times and from what I can tell he is a neat freak with a touch of OCD but still. Its like, which one should I choose:

A: Food wrapper on the carpet.
B: Face ripped off by mutant humans or possible psychotic serial killer.

Personally, I would choose A: but that is ONLY BECAUSE I AM SANE.

God Damn AJ. If this were a movie I could just smack him once really hard across the face and he would realize the folly of his ways and realize how right I am. However, in the realm of the real if I tried that he would probably just sulk and tell me that misplaced anger is just another reason we need our own space.

Soap opera triviality aside, at the very least he agreed that this whole "pack" situation might start getting bad for us in a hurry. If I remember correctly, wolves can travel in groups from seven to fifteen. That would be a real problem since we would probably have trouble taking down more then three. Not to mention the fact that since we are essentially dealing with a new species here, there is no telling what the size limit might be.

On the plus side though, at least if we do get attacked by a football sized swarm of these things we will be able to watch each others backs and make sure we... Oh wait, no we won't because he is a moron!

Hey AJ, if I get ripped into pieces by brain mangled exhumes and no one is around to hear me, will I still make a sound?

Yes.

The answer is absolutely yes.

Unless of course they rip my throat out first, then I don't know.

But trees don't have throats so I am pretty sure they make a sound when they keel over in the forest.

Day Nineteen:

Day Nineteen:

Watched the cameras from last night...

AJ and I might be in trouble.

It appears that they have begun to work in groups. So far they are still sticking to small groups of 2 or 3 at the most but... 2 or 3 means they are in a pack. If I have learned anything from the Discovery Channel back when, well, there was a Discovery Channel. It was that packs of animals = bad news for humans.

Especially when the packs are made up of humans.

I have a bad headache so I will write more tomorrow, or at least, if we make it to tomorrow.

Day Eighteen:

Day Eighteen:

For some reason I thought finding video monitoring equipment and solar panels would be really difficult. I suppose if I wasn't living here it might be but, God Damn are there a shit load of different ways to record stuff.

Also, sort of like the "borrowed" car it was nice being able to pick out whatever I wanted since, I can't imagine any sane person spending upwards of 20,000 dollars on cameras and motion sensors which; is what I am now in possession of.

With a little bit of luck I will be able to get the solar panels running and since it is sunny like, 95% of the year here I can't imagine ever needing to worry about electricity. Which; sort of makes me wonder why I didn't get off my ass and do this before the entire world went to hell.

Oh well.

I think I made some progress with AJ today. Got him to at least agree that if these things start to show any increased aggression or if Captain Sadistic starts stalking us, then we should live together. And while I am on the subject, I am hoping that Psycho will start putting his murders on display in some sort of pattern just so that I can set up cameras. I don't know why but I really really need to know what this guy looks like.

Or girl I suppose but I mean, yeah right. Right?

Almost forgot, AJ has a cold. The rest of the fucking world succumbs to some type of insanely contagious mutant virus or whatever it is... and this guy catches a cold? I don't even know how that is possible since there aren't even any people left to spread it but yeah, I made fun of him quite a bit for that and gave him a bottle of Dayquil I had left.

Which; reminds me. The medicine on all the shelves in all the pharmacies has a definite expiration time. So I wonder how long before there just simply isn't any more medicine left? Because last time I checked, I don't know how to use a mortar and pedestal and grind up some Tylenol so yeah. I suppose if I had a therapist they would say that this remark is very positive since it means that I think I will be alive long enough for the medicine to expire.

However, all the therapists are most likely dead. In turn, that means that therapy is dead. So for the first time in a long long time, everyone left has to take responsibility for themselves, HOORAY!

One last thing before I get ready for bed, I think I know why these ex-humes haven't been very aggressive lately. So far, the local pet population has kept them satiated, along with whatever other woodland creatures are too slow to outrun whatever the hell they are. See, this is why I am glad I don't have children, because for some insane reason I repeatedly have a nightmare thought like this pop into my head before going to sleep.

I really have got to stop doing that.

Day Seventeen:

Day Seventeen:

I wonder if in some future world, pending that the non-infected survive, if the ex-humes will be considered pets? Probably not, probably too dangerous. But how weird would that be? Some guy walking some other guy with a collar on all fours down the street. At this point, I would not be surprised.

What does surprise me though is the persistence of our local crucifier. AJ and I discovered five more mutilated bodies and I know this is disturbing but, it has almost turned into sort of a murder Easter egg hunt. I mean, shit, we don't exactly have tv or anything anymore so maybe finding a decapitated head in an alley will become the new Price Is Right.

On a serious note. We examined some of the bodies he left behind and I am pretty sure he or she is taking them out with a bow and arrow. Could be a long spear I suppose, or any other variety of weapon but, I don't think its a gun. Because we would probably hear a gun and, although I am no CSI expert I am pretty sure a bullet would leave a good size hole out the back of whatever it entered. These bodies just have a large hole, or holes in the front that look like they were dug out.

So probably an arrow, unless the guy is a ghost ninja and can somehow get the drop on these creatures and take them out up close and personal. Or maybe he uses traps and just stabs them in the net? Who knows, as I said before... still probably best that we don't know since that level of deranged deserves a wide berth.

And with that, I am going to make this a brief entry and get some sleep. Decided that tomorrow I ought to see about securing some video cameras or monitoring tools. My generator is running pretty good and unless I am mistaken, there should be an almost endless supply of gas to run it on. Already have more than enough gas in the garage to keep it running for probably a couple months nonstop. So, should be enough to let it run during the night so I can maybe get some video footage of these things in my garden.

Also might try to work with some solar panels since, the noise the generator makes might not be the best way to remain discreet in the future.

Alright, good night everyone and crazy psychotic mutilation guy... if you're out there, take a deep breath and think about starting a journal. It might help relax you a little.

Day Sixteen Pt. 2:

Day Sixteen Pt. 2:

I've got good news and bad new.

First, the good news. I am still alive.

Now the bad news:

A: The power grid has failed. To be honest I didn't expect it to last this long so, I guess I should be thankful. However, this now means that everything refrigerated will spoil along with other problems that I am sure will sprout up soon enough.

B: I have begun to see more and more ex-humes. I think first they were scared of us but the more days pass, I think they are beginning to understand that they have the advantage. Still only seeing them solo so, maybe this should be in the good news column?

C: AJ and I discovered more mutilated bodies on display. This guy is like the Johnny Appleseed of dismemberment. Also, I can't prove it but I am almost positive that the ex-humes are eating the dead. Because the decapitated one that I wrote about earlier has pretty much been ripped to pieces and stripped to the bones.

D: I have found hand and footprints outside my home in the garden. I don't know when they were there, but they were. I told AJ about this and now he is considering fortifying my house like mine. I tried to convince him to stay with me until he could do that but, he wouldn't listen.

Which leads us to

E: Chances are I will never again eat a hamburger, drink a cold glass of milk, or enjoy ice cream. Thanks again God, you're doing a bang up job down here. Dick.

Day Sixteen:

Day Sixteen:

Today AJ and I learned that we are not the only ones left untouched by this disease. And with that discovery came a very serious problem.

Either the other person or persons left hate these ex-humes much more than AJ and I or, they are serial killers. That’s the problem with humans devolving into animals, when they die you have no idea if they were uninfected or essentially dumb animals.

Which means that the crucified decapitated human today was either a captured infected body, or perfectly fine. Who knows. I do know that anyone who takes the time to cut the head off of anything, and then string it up Jesus style to a traffic signal pole... Well, they're pretty fucked up.

A scarecrow is one thing, this is another. Chances are the corpse was infected but, what if it wasn't? And even if it was, why do this?

We debated for a while about whether we should leave a note and try to contact this other person but in the end, we decided that it wasn't worth the headache and possible invitation to get murdered by a psychopath. You know what bothers me the most about this?

Out of all the people that were infected by SCARI, why in the hell would it leave someone like that untouched. I mean, I'm not exactly the cream of the crop. But this guy would be the warm gross slurps at the bottom of the glass that no one wants.

If I believed in a higher power I would probably be trying to figure out a way to punch him in the face at this point.

Day Fifteen:

Day Fifteen:

Well I talked about it yesterday but today I decided to do a little car shopping. Drove to a few lots and after comparing gas mileage and prices... hahaha, I kept expecting a car salesmen to come out and say "Well, normally I don't do this but since you seem like a nice guy, if you drive this off the lot today not only will it be free but I will cut that price in half!"

I decided on a nice black brand new Jeep Patriot. Almost went with a hybrid SUV but you know what? Even in the end of days I just can't see myself driving around in some gay minivan that is pretending to be an SUV. Somewhere I am sure an ex-hume former environmentalist is growling because of my choice but, since the daily car use has probably dropped from billions to hundreds or low thousands well, at this point I wouldn't feel guilty driving a hummer that ran on Condor blood.

Not to mention, even though I was focusing primarily on gas mileage it is sort of a bullshit statistic to focus on since as soon as I got home I went to work on fortifying the car and thus, completing destroyed whatever preset gas mileage numbers it might have been cranking out. Although it no longer looks "pretty" it does now have thick metal screen bolted to all of the windows including the windshield. Unfortunately I don't know how to weld anything so I just drilled some holes and then filled them in with silicone caulk. No idea if that will keep the rain out or not but, keeping the rain out isn't exactly at the top of my list of things I need to keep out of my car.

Really wanted to try to protect the tires as well but I'm not sure how to do that. Tomorrow I might go back to Home Depot and see about getting some metal plates that I could cover the tires with.

AJ thinks I am crazy for going to that extent since, we haven't really seen any overt signs of aggression from the ex-humes yet but better safe than sorry right? Plus, its not exactly like I have a job to go to anymore.

Or friends.

Or anything outside of videogames and movies.

Kind of weird to think that this year may very well be the last year a new movie was ever made. Maybe tomorrow I will see if AJ wants to try to figure out how to get one of the local theaters fired up and running.

Day Fourteen:

Day Fourteen:

A little over two weeks since mankind's fall from grace occurred. Been noticing more and more broken windows along with other random acts of destruction and several pools of blood in areas where there shouldn't be. Talked to AJ and we both agreed that whatever this disease did to people, it did nothing to inhibit their hunger.

With that being said, my earlier assumption that there would be plenty of food for years to come might have been a bit premature. If these things are able to break windows than I assume they will soon start raiding stores for anything that might be edible. Fortunately, I don't think their brains allow them to operate a can opener any longer so hopefully we will still have canned whatever for a long time.

Sort of weird to think that for the first time in a long long time humans might be back on the food chain though. If this outbreak were happening under glass I am sure anthropologists would be able to use their science skills to finally prove that we evolved from either apes, or dogs, or maybe some sort of dog ape.

I did manage to clean out my garage so that I could store my car indoors. The last thing I want is for one an ex-hume to decide my car is the enemy and destroy what may very well be my best escape route in case of an emergency. Although, I suppose I could just grab any other car on the street...

I hadn't even thought about this till now but, why haven't I gotten a new "free" car yet? I suppose I have had other things on my mind and also maybe because that would sort of represent the complete loss of hope that anyone will rescue this situation.

We'll see what happens, need to start researching fuel efficient cars. At first it seems like an electric car would be the way to go except, electricity is failing. This means an electric car wouldn't work that great. Then again, if electricity fails completely I wonder if I would be able to figure out how to get gas out of gas tanks?

Might want to think about liberating a tanker truck full of gas before a new car.
